Sitting on a flight and carrying some larger luggage can be terrible for someone who struggles with back pain - but it should not stop you from seeing the world. Here are some tips to help you travel to your destination a little more comfortably. 

Try to book your trip early so you can have a good seat selection. Always try to opt for the aisle seat to have more space. If you are able to help in emergency operations, you should request an emergency exit row, which can give you more legroom so you can spread out.

Booking flights that will take you to your destination in less time. If sitting for prolonged periods of time can cause you pain, then you should see if you can book connecting flights so you can stand up and walk around the airport a bit.

Pack light and pack smart. Instead of having one heavy bag, try to take two or three smaller bags that would be easier to lift. Try to use luggage that has wheels and be sure to get a cart at the airport to carry your belongings. 

Be sure to try and bring a small pillow on the plane so you can put it behind your back or neck so you can sit comfortably. If your feet can't touch the floor then maybe consier getting a foldable footrest too help save your knees.

Try to move and stretch as much as you are able, during your flight. This becomes easier when you can sit in an aisle seat. Be sure to contract your calf muscles to lessen the chance of blood clots on long flights.
